New Zealand Rose of Tralee 2018

12 Jun

On Saturday 9 June, carloads of friends made the journey to New Plymouth to see our own Jolene McLaughlin (originally from the hills of Donegal) crowned the New Zealand Rose of Tralee for 2018. She faced some stiff competition from the other competitors, but her Irish dancing talent, wit, sense of humour and beauty blew the judges away. She was a worthy winner and we are so proud of her.

Jolene and her loyal supporters danced the night away at The Devon Hotel and it was a night that will never be forgotten.

After the shock wore off, Jolene wanted to say a few words to all her supporters near and far:

“I want to sincerely thank everyone for their help and support on my Rose of Tralee journey so far. It has been a mad few weeks since O’Leary and the girls put me up to it – haha! Thanks also for the generous fundraising on the GAA awards night and to all you legends who made the trip to Taranaki to cheer me on in the Dome! The adventure is just beginning, and we’ll have the Welly homecoming soon. Welly Abú!”

I think I speak for everyone at Wellington/Hutt Valley GFHA when I say that we could not have had a better representative for our club and this beautiful city. She epiotmises everything great about our club and our home from home.

Jolene will be jetting off to Ireland in early August and we ask everyone to come out and support her on Saturday 28 July 28 for her going away/good luck party at D4 on Allen.
